MEET THE SHEEP

Speedy
Speedy was a 4-H "project." He was meant to be raised and then auctioned off for slaughter. But, when it came time to auction him off, the student who'd raised him couldn't do it and reached out to us. Because she owned the contract, she was able to make the decision to not send him to auction and he was able to come here to live the rest of his life.

Speedy is a sweet sheep who will walk right up to most people for a little head scratch.

Miku
Miku was also a 4-H "project" but her student did not own her contract. Therefore, when it came time for Miku to go to auction, the student didn't have the legal right to keep Miku and had no option but to send her to auction (and almost certain death). By this time, the student had a change of heart and reached out to us to see if we could help. The only way we could save Miku was to bid on her, and, luckily, we were able to "buy" her freedom. This isn't something we normally do, because it still financially supports the industries that we rescue animals from, but we made an exception in this case.

Today, Miku loves to play in the barnyard with his goat and sheep friends.

Daisy
Same as Miku, Daisy was also a 4-H "project" and her student did not own her contract. Therefore, when it came time for Daisy to go to auction, the student didn't have the legal right to keep Daisy and had no option but to send her to auction (and almost certain death). By this time, the student had a change of heart and reached out to us to see if we could help. The only way we could save Daisy was to bid on her, and, luckily, we were able to "buy" her freedom. This isn't something we normally do, because it still financially supports the industries that we rescue animals from, but we made an exception in this case.
Today, Daisy loves to play in the barnyard with her goat and sheep friends and is never far from Miku and Speedy.
